Star Wars: Tiny Death Star

It is a little known fact that Star Wars for every room of torture Death Star had a karaoke bar , and for every fighter stomping around there Ewok toy buying a pun - named toy shop .

Thankfully , it all comes to light in the Very Death Star , and Disney NimbleBit mashing together the Star Wars universe with Tiny Tower to create a twee simulator populated by familiar faces , races , and joke .

It all works pretty well , and while there are great additions to the formula Tiny Tower in - joke and references make the whole thing a bit of a joy . As strange combinations go , it is more than peanut butter and bacon jam and shoe polish .

Tower of happy

Essentially, the game is about playing on the side of the evil Empire . You create a Death Star , a weapon of unimaginable power that will one day destroy the entire planet . But the Empire ran out of cash , so you need to start achieving this by renting out rooms in the soon to be WMD .

So you create a capitalist society in a curved wall , slotting in stores , apartments , recreational facilities , and the bizarre interrogation room to earn cash on the Empire needs to finish off its big Alderaan - blasting laser .

All works in a fine balance . You need a home for your bitizens , and areas for them to work and play too . Each of the characters in your space station has a dream job , and a set of skills that correspond to a type of work .

Juggling the needs of your people has its own prize . Better suited workers better, and create more money , you can then use to build new floors or upgrade shops and apartments have.

Tower power

Much like its predecessor themed non - Star Wars , and the rest of the work NimbleBit , the focus is very much on expansion . Your housing blocks fill up quickly , and you will find yourself with many unemployed bitizens sitting around waiting for you to build them a place to work .

Each floor costs more to build than the last , so you need to make sure you maximizing your profits and completing a lot of quests sets the Emperor as possible . These range from simple things like visiting the store more drawn - out tasks such as developing a specific floor , or using the right kind of people .

While there 's quite a lot going on , there is still much to do . Need to transport bitizens in the elevator to the right floor , and make sure that your retail outlet enough stock , but as far as gameplay goes there is not much else .

That is par for the course of the game NimbleBit , who tend to have endearingly twee , and addictive in a repetitive manner , but often lacking when it comes to interaction and excitement . It is very much a game that happens in the background , regardless of what you are doing .

star taps

Not that there's anything wrong with that . This is the perfect game to dip in and out of when you have a spare minute - which means it is the perfect game to play on a mobile phone . The Star Wars setting is the icing on a sweet cake but vaguely empty .

Very Death Star is almost exactly what you'd expect . It is twee , humorous , and hollow all the right ways . NimbleBit can still push the right buttons , but this time it was attached to the planet - destroying laser .
